Last Tuesday was a day I would much rather have skipped. The day started out fine. Emmie called & asked me to watch Jayden at dad's house & I was really excited because I hadn't seen him in a few days & he is at such a great age, always on the go & doing new things all the time plus he LOVES his grandma;) Anyway everything was great, I met them outside because Em was running a bit late for work. Jayden got out of Emmie's car ran to her door and closed it before she even had a chance to kiss him goodbye & was more than happy to see her off,(I think her feelings were a bit hurt but she was happy he wasn't crying & of course I loved it.) We went inside & were playing games & watching Blue's Clue's videos on the computer, then Jayden decided to get a ball in the backyard, but at the last minute he went to get a toy car in the living room to play with instead, DISASTER!!! In a matter of seconds Cisco got Jayden in the face. I heard Cisco growl & Jayden screaming. Cisco lost one lower front tooth & Jayden lost his 2 upper front teeth, plus scratches on one eyelid & another scratch under his other eye that the doctor had to glue shut(the cut not the eye), his cheek was swollen too. My poor baby. He was only out of my sight for a matter of seconds but I guess that's all it takes, usually he drags me around by the finger wherever he goes but he was trying out some independence today instead. Jan & I spent all afternoon crying (for both Cisco & Jayden) because when Cisco bit Brenton a few months ago (he tried to pick Cisco up)Julie had taken him to Community Hospital after the school called her to come get Brenton. Community hospital contacted Animal Control & they said if Cisco ever attacked anyone again they would put him to sleep. No one wanted Cisco dead, Emmie & her boyfriend both said Cisco was too good a dog & to keep him in the bedroom or side yard when kids are there. We thought Cisco was doomed, we told the boys (Tony, Landon & Derek) about it & they were really upset as well. Tony said "What if Cisco just disappeared tonight?" Jan even called her vet & made an appointment for the following am to have Cisco put to sleep. To make a long post a bit shorter, the drs & nurses asked about the attack but didn't ask any details about "the dog" other than if he was up to date on his shots, didn't ask about owner info, location, previous history, etc. Apparently Cisco's guardian angel was working overtime. Jan called & canceled Cisco's death sentence. The vet felt Cisco would respond well in an outpatient rehabilitation treatment program(dog trainer). Dad & Jan agreed & thought Lady might as well deal with her issues too so both will be in rehab soon. It's been a week now & I am happy to report Jayden's face has almost healed, except for his new "white trash smile" (Emmie's term not mine) he should be looking great for ring bearer duty in August. Emmie will be the maid of honer & Jayden ring bearer at Corie's wedding (a best friend from high school). The sad part is that Jayden still wants to come play with Cisco & doesn't understand why he can't play catch anymore:( I am glad that Cisco didn't have to die & Jayden is ok.

AHHH... SCARY! that's attack #4! I didn't know that Cisco bit Brenton. Have you guys forgotten about Cisco's snapping at Sam once and then again while we were there last September? i don't think it was a bit though, probably a paw scratch all down his eye and face. Holy cow! that's just so sad about Jayden. I hope he heals up well. Sam still talks about Cisco. I"m sure he will never forget!
We haven't forgotten Sam's scratch. Jan looks at any new pics you send to make sure there aren't any scars on his face. Jayden was scratched on the face a couple months ago as well, I don't know why Cisco always seems to go for the face most dogs realize it's a small child & nip an arm or leg...hopefully he will do well in his "anger management" classes.
I think that house is too small for two big dogs. They need room to run. Cisco belongs on a ranch. I personally don't like coming over to Dad's house because of the dogs.
Emmie called the office and Eddie and I referred her to a pedadontist off of Victoria. I hope she made an apt.
thats a crazy story! i had no idea cisco bit anyone. i think some training will do him so good, but good thing he didnt have to be put down. we've lost enough pets around here lately.
Wow. I can just imagine how upset you and Jan were. I feel bad for all of you. I hope Jayden isn't afraid of dogs now - but just having observed his little personality a bit while we were there he will likely be fine.
