Anyone Else?

I was looking back at past posts (admiring my new background) when I noticed some new comments...I was totally surprised that one was from Jesse:) I didn't know he checked out the family blogs, let alone mine, anyone else out there reading? Wish that Jesse or Jen would start blogging. I'd love to see & read more about Atticus. I have really enjoyed Bethany's & Jessica's posts about all the funny things their kids do. I wish Jeanette & Katherine would blog as well & while I'm wishing I might as well wish big so here goes... I wish Stephanie, Tony, Landon, Emmie, Derek, Dad & Jan & Aunt Lois would blog too & that Linda would start blogging again, that would be a good New Years Resolution for any of the aforementioned, just in case they might be reading;)

New Look

I guess I better add a new post to go with my new background:) I finally got brave & decided to try something new. The hardest part was trying to get rid of the pyzam link at the top of my blog...I never did succeed but I did manage to change the wording from Pyzam to One Cute Blog. I tried to make it link but no luck. Oh well at least the credit goes to the right place now.

Layout

Why doesn't my published post ever look like I want it to? Specifically paragraphs are never spaced how I want them... for example in my previous post I ended up using different colors for nearly every paragraph because I couldn't get it right. I know this probably has to do with Html but that is an area I know next to knothing about... I guess I need to learn because I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to that kind of stuff & not having things look the way I want them to DRIVES ME CRAZY!!! So I'm sure I will be spending some time in the near future figuring this out. That's how I've learned everything else computerwise (online research a couple of books & alot of trial & error:0 Any tips would be appreciated;)

Prop 8

Okay today I got an email from Debra Mansfield (Lady at church) stating some things you can do to support prop 8 & this one wasn't at all painful (not making phone calls or knocking on doors) just watch You Tube videos that are pro prop 8. Share, rate & comment on them so they will be spotlighted because only Anti prop 8 ones are being spotlighted. I guess the more you watch, share, rate & comment the better. These are considered favorites & are spotlighted. So here is my original comment in yellow type but it was 170 characters over so I had to edit, my condensed version follows in purple type its amazing how many characters you can save with deleting nearly all the punctuation. What I want to know is why can't a gay union be called something besides marriage? Marriage is a word. Why shouldn't the definition of "marriage" be "The legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife." I'm sure someone can come up with a word for "The legal union of a man and man as husband and husband" & another word for "The legal union of a woman and woman as wife and wife"... that way there would be no confusion, we would know exactly what the union consists of because like it or not these unions are different, we still call a male a man & a female a woman even after equal rights laws so why can't we come up with different words for different unions? Why cant a gay union be called a different word Why marriage? Marriage is just a word It is defined as The legal union of a man & woman as husband & wife Be Precise, Clarify A word can be created for The legal union of a man & man as husband & husband & a word for The legal union of a woman & woman as wife & wife Like it or not these unions are all different We still call a male a man & a female a woman after equal rights laws passed so why not have different words for different unions? To Easy? I hope it's still understandable...so anyway pass it on. Our church leaders have asked us to: "Do your part to help with this Please watch, rate, and share these videos. In the next few days, there will be more. Return regularly to watch, rate and share the new videos as they become available. The more we watch, rate, and share, the more the positive story will be heard!" And you don't even half to live in CAlif you make a difference just watch You Tube :)

Oh Look! A Naked Man On The Roof!!!

Did that get your attention? It got mine, Ah another peaceful Friday night in beautiful Oxnard, gotta love it. So here's the details, Joe & I had just gone to bed after some late night T.V., we were just nodding off when the dogs started going nuts. I figured it was like the last time they went off (a cat in the yard) but they kept barking. Joe decided he better go investigate so he grabbed his flashlight & went outside, the next thing I heard was Joe's dad on the phone to the police saying there was a naked man on the roof of his motor home. Ok I guess I'll get up & see what's going on in the yard, Sure enough there was a Half naked man(He had a shirt on) walking back & forth on the roof of the RV, I retreated to the living room where I could watch on the surveillance camera. Joe came back inside as soon as the sheriffs pulled up outside the gate, in the past they were usually here to haul him off to jail, so I guess I can see why he didn't want to go hang out with them. This is what the naked guy told Joe: he had just gotten paid & was coming out of the convenience store on the corner when he got jumped by a bunch of homeboys, they took his money & his pants & then beat him up pretty bad. Joe said from what he could see from the ground the guy was all bloody, he was really drunk too. He said he wasn't from around here & I'm guessing he wasn't because he would know better than to be a white boy out alone late at night cashing his check in this neighborhood. I don't know how he got on the roof but it made for an interesting night, it's way past my bedtime...good thing I don't have any little kids so I can sleep in, unless the dogs find something to bark at again. Sorry I couldn't find my camera to take a picture you will just have to use your imagination;)

Will He or Won't He

Today Emmie's friend Corie is getting married. Emmie is the maid of honor & Jayden is the ring bearer. The only problem is Jayden WILL NOT put his tuxedo on. Emmie has attempted to try it on him several times and he pitches a fit. He loves Blue's clues so I found a pic of Blue and added a tux with computer editing. I thought if he sees Blue in a tux maybe he will want to wear one. I'll let you know how it goes hopefully I will have a pic of Jayden & Em to share soon in the meantime here is my pic of Blue

X Games

I love watching the X Games especially the big air skateboard contest. This year the competition was really intense. You think that there is no way it could get any better that these guys have pushed it to the limit & all tricks that could possibly be done have been & then BAM someone pulls off something you would think impossible. I also can't believe how hard these guys crash & live to tell about it,Danny Way wrecked big time, he was out cold, got up limped off to medical, came back & completed the contest, if you didn't watch check out his wreck on YouTube. The movie I made is as close as I'll ever get to skateboarding but who knows maybe someday we'll be watching Jake compete at the X Games;)

Charley Bit My Finger

No I don't know these kids but this video was to cute not to share. I can't believe how laid back this big brother is. My boys would have smacked their little brother or returned the bite & the baby he is going to be an onrey one for sure!

A Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day

Last Tuesday was a day I would much rather have skipped. The day started out fine. Emmie called & asked me to watch Jayden at dad's house & I was really excited because I hadn't seen him in a few days & he is at such a great age, always on the go & doing new things all the time plus he LOVES his grandma;) Anyway everything was great, I met them outside because Em was running a bit late for work. Jayden got out of Emmie's car ran to her door and closed it before she even had a chance to kiss him goodbye & was more than happy to see her off,(I think her feelings were a bit hurt but she was happy he wasn't crying & of course I loved it.) We went inside & were playing games & watching Blue's Clue's videos on the computer, then Jayden decided to get a ball in the backyard, but at the last minute he went to get a toy car in the living room to play with instead, DISASTER!!! In a matter of seconds Cisco got Jayden in the face. I heard Cisco growl & Jayden screaming. Cisco lost one lower front tooth & Jayden lost his 2 upper front teeth, plus scratches on one eyelid & another scratch under his other eye that the doctor had to glue shut(the cut not the eye), his cheek was swollen too. My poor baby. He was only out of my sight for a matter of seconds but I guess that's all it takes, usually he drags me around by the finger wherever he goes but he was trying out some independence today instead. Jan & I spent all afternoon crying (for both Cisco & Jayden) because when Cisco bit Brenton a few months ago (he tried to pick Cisco up)Julie had taken him to Community Hospital after the school called her to come get Brenton. Community hospital contacted Animal Control & they said if Cisco ever attacked anyone again they would put him to sleep. No one wanted Cisco dead, Emmie & her boyfriend both said Cisco was too good a dog & to keep him in the bedroom or side yard when kids are there. We thought Cisco was doomed, we told the boys (Tony, Landon & Derek) about it & they were really upset as well. Tony said "What if Cisco just disappeared tonight?" Jan even called her vet & made an appointment for the following am to have Cisco put to sleep. To make a long post a bit shorter, the drs & nurses asked about the attack but didn't ask any details about "the dog" other than if he was up to date on his shots, didn't ask about owner info, location, previous history, etc. Apparently Cisco's guardian angel was working overtime. Jan called & canceled Cisco's death sentence. The vet felt Cisco would respond well in an outpatient rehabilitation treatment program(dog trainer). Dad & Jan agreed & thought Lady might as well deal with her issues too so both will be in rehab soon. It's been a week now & I am happy to report Jayden's face has almost healed, except for his new "white trash smile" (Emmie's term not mine) he should be looking great for ring bearer duty in August. Emmie will be the maid of honer & Jayden ring bearer at Corie's wedding (a best friend from high school). The sad part is that Jayden still wants to come play with Cisco & doesn't understand why he can't play catch anymore:( I am glad that Cisco didn't have to die & Jayden is ok.

Jayden's Birthday

O.K. moving right along to April 10th, Jayden's 2nd birthday, my how time flies. He isn't much of a baby anymore. Jayden loves Blues Clues, Emmie wanted a Blues Clues cake but decided they were way to expensive so creative mommy that she is she downloaded a template online & made her own cake. I think it turned out way better than anything she could have bought already made.

I know I'm really behind with my posts, here it is mid May & I'm just getting around to Joe's Birthday (which was April 8th) I surprised myself and Joe by actually baking a cake. He will be the first to tell you that Domestic Goddess is definitely not a title that describes me ;)I have to admit with the jobs I had & working nights I have gotten really rusty when it comes to preparing a real home cooked meal (now fast food I can do; Carl's Jr, Taco Bell, I could (past tense) even toss a pizza crust in the air & catch it. I am trying to get back into the habit of cooking at home more...we will see how it goes. Anyway this is a picture of my happy hubby with his cake unfortunately I didn't have 47 candles so he got off easy with only 7. I really am lucky to have a husband that treats me as well as Joe does he loves (I think) to do things for me & I know I take it for granted sometimes & should do more for him than I do but I have to admit I love all he does to "spoil me rotten". I am also so grateful & blessed that he loves my children and considers them his own. I know it hasn't always been easy sometimes it seems that they all had emergencies at the same time but Joe never complained about helping in any way he could. I guess we are proof that for me anyway the 3rd time (married) is a charm. Happy Birthday Joe! I Love You!

Frustration...How do you do it???

Wow that last post was difficult. I had a really hard time getting the question on one line and the answer on the next line. I never did figure out how to get a space between the question & the answer... All I know is that what I wrote in the create a post & what I saw in the preview looked NOTHING like the actual post on my blog! Any answers to why that is would be appreciated because it was FRUSTRATING!!!

Exciting News

My husband, Joe, is getting baptized this Saturday! This has been a long time coming. I think it was about 1o years ago when he first heard the lessons. He has taken the missionary discussions twice before but I guess the third time is a charm;) At least I know that he has really thought it out & isn't doing it just to make me happy. Anyway just thought I'd let everyone know & this seemed like a good way to do it since I don't have most of your email addresses.

Wallpaper

Wallpaper...that's what the guy is doing with the corrugated tin. He is covering the walls of his office with it! Then he has some old license plates from the 1950's that he is going to hang on the corrugated. I guess it could look good if it's done right, it would be interesting to see what it looks like when he's done.

I'm Not All Bad

I was looking through my box of "stuff" that mom saved over the years & I found this letter. I must have done something right to get this:)

Who Would of Thought?

You never know what you can sell on craigslist! I was looking at the wanted listings on craigslist to see if there was anything listed that might be here in Joe's dad's yard, and what do you know someone was looking for old RUSTED corrugated tin to BUY. We had just torn down an old carport made out of the stuff & have about 15 sheets of it. The guy actually wants the stuff at $1.00 a sheet (makes me wonder if we should have asked for more;) but hey it beats paying to take it to the dump! I guess it's true one mans trash is another mans treasure...I wonder what he is going to do with it?

Sometimers

So I've been sitting here thinking was Bobby McGillis Dana's age or Kathie's??? I guess I'm getting old, I got the memory right...but do I have the right sister?

Happy Birthday Dana!

Today is Dana's birthday. I guess I was kinda mean to Dana when she was little but anyway here are some of my memories. I remember dangling Dana over the big outside trash can & telling her I was going to throw her away. I also remember packing her a suitcase & telling her she was going to go live at my friend Teri McGillis & her little brother Bobby was going to come live here because mom & dad really wanted a boy. One good thing I remember was my senior year I was on Senior Class Council & we were planning Homecoming we wanted little kids to present the Homecoming Court with their crowns so Dana & Jude (a boy her age that lived down the street) had that honor. I think I would have been too scared at that age to walk out on the football field at halftime & do that but she did a good job. I am proud to call you my sister Dana, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Birthdays

Well this has been a memorable month for birthdays. I turned 50 on the 4th Stephanie was 30 on the 12th & Tony will be 28 tomorrow. Where did the time go? I certainly don't feel 50 and it seems hard to believe that I have a 30 year old daughter but I am & I do. Unfortunately most of the pictures I had of my kids when they were little I lost in storage so I will have to see what dad has and hopefully I will get some pictures of Stephanie & Tony up soon. Happy Birthday Stephanie & Tony!

Our Project

Here is what Joe & I have been doing with our free time. This is my father-in -laws front yard, it is 1/3 of an acre & until a few days ago you couldn't see any ground. Joe's dad used to own a scrap yard & when he retired he brought home his favorite stuff, kinda our own version of Sanford & Son. Unfortunately the Oxnard City Code Enforcement has decided it's time to clean up, so after 30 some years of collecting it has to be gotten rid of or stored in a container. We got a permit for 8 20' cargo containers, so far we have 2 actually on site. We have to fill them up to make room for the rest. Today Joe & his dad are building shelves in the containers so they can better utilize the space. Joe is hoping to convince his dad to get rid of the majority but this is no easy task! My job in all of this? Take pictures & list the sellable stuff online...Wish us luck & I will let you know how it goes.

Here I Go

So I've been reading everyone's blogs & I guess it's about time to jump on the bandwagon... this is all new to me so hopefully as time goes by the layout will improve. My boys kept telling me they would help me with the setup but when it came right down to it seems like they were always too busy to help out mom, so here I go... this is definitely all mine & we will see where it takes me. I know I've enjoyed keeping up on everybodies doings. I feel a lot more connected to my family & if blogging does that then it's a good thing.
